Abstracting & Indexing
The KORA Journal of Korean Language & Studies (KJKS) is committed to ensuring the wide visibility, accessibility and long-term discoverability of published research.
As a newly established journal founded in 2026, KJKS is not currently indexed in any abstracting or indexing service. Applications will be submitted progressively, in accordance with the journal's publication development timeline and the eligibility criteria of each service.
Most services require a publication history, an assigned ISSN, and a complete and transparent journal website before they will consider an application. Our first issue appears in December 2026, and applications follow from there.

The Sequence We Follow
- Publish Volume 1, Issue 1 in December 2026, meeting every standard of transparency, peer review and metadata that assessors look for.
- Apply for an ISSN. An ISSN cannot be applied for until a serial has issued its first number, so this follows publication rather than preceding it.
- Build a publication record. Most services want to see consistent, on-schedule issues before evaluating a journal — typically two or more.
- Submit applications progressively to the services listed below, each on its own timetable and criteria.
- Update this page as each outcome is received, whether it is an acceptance or a rejection.

The journal aims to be indexed in international databases and scholarly indexing platforms relevant to Korean studies, linguistics and language education — subject to evaluation and approval by the respective organisations. Listing a service here means we intend to apply to it. It does not mean the journal is indexed by it.

What this journal will never claim
- Indexing in Scopus or Web of Science — we are not in either, and will say so plainly until we are.
- Any impact factor, including metrics sold by unofficial providers.
- An index we have merely applied to, or been rejected by.
- An ISSN, DOI prefix or identifier that has not been formally assigned.
- Vague credentials such as "internationally recognised" or "globally indexed".
An ISSN is an identifier, not a mark of quality — it says nothing about peer review, approval or standing, and we will present it as such once we have one. If you receive a message claiming any of the above in the journal's name, it is not from us; please forward it to the editorial office.
Discoverability in the Meantime
Being unindexed does not mean being invisible. Every article is free to read from the day it is published, carries complete and machine-readable metadata, and sits at a permanent URL. Authors may deposit the published version in an institutional or subject repository immediately, without asking us — and for a new journal, that is the fastest route to a readership.
